Yeah, I’m a day late.
My Femitokon editor got a stomach bug and offered to pass the episode’s manuscript on to another where she works; I said no. I wasn’t down with training a new editor. If that sounds condescending, I apologize- I have the utmost respect for editors, and I should probably have used the term, on-boarding, but I hate that word because I heard it regularly in the military.
I decided to wait for the week she said she’d be out of commission. In that time, I’ve been watching lots of FunimationNow and have back flipped into fandom again. I went and saw Super Broly after loving all Dragonball Super. I was wrong to think it would be another DBZ Kai and I’m glad I watched it. I also started watching Gungrave again. That voice cast was excellent so I re-watched Samurai Champloo, too. I couldn’t get into Gangsta, I tried but didn’t resonate with me which is weird considering how much Gungrave failed to develop its characters the way it should’ve.
Last month I started visiting Archive of Our Own because I socialize with a lot of cool people on Tumblr that love Jeffrey Combs, and DS9. Once I got my invite processed though, I ended up goofing off with the CSS skins and didn’t really post anything. I’m too invested creatively with Femitokon to write any new fanfic. I posted a lot of my Gungrave stuff – I might go WAY WAY back and post my 90’s era Gundam Wing fics. OMG can you imagine? I’ve been reading in my free time though (what I have of it) and I still enjoy reading Fanfic. It doesn’t matter if it’s unpolished; it’s about being a fan and enjoying yourself.
Did you notice my site redesign?
My goal for 2019 is taking on less administrative work and more creatively challenging jobs. My spouse pointed out that my current position isn’t a financial necessity, and my series is only making enough money to pay for cover art every couple months; why not take on a freelance job? That’s why I’ve smartened up the site and will probably get my butt back over to LinkedIn (ugh).
Well, until next month!
